A YOUNG Brownie has impressed her peers and troop leaders after completing months of outstanding work which led to her achieving her Gold Award.
Charlotte Cooper, 9, who is from Milnthorpe has been part of the Brownies for 18 months and is based at St Thomas' Church.
She has completed the highest award achievable by a Brownie after earning dozens of badges during lockdown.
Sally Edmondson, one of the troop leaders, praised Charlotte's commitment and drive to do well in the run up for her award.
The Gold Award is a new program that has been set up by the Girl Guiding Association.
Sally said: "We are so proud of Charlotte and all the hard work she has put into this. It is really incredible.
“This new scheme from the Association has been a great way to bring out the best in our members.
"There were several sections of work that needed doing. Some of them involved skill building, adventure, lighting fires and other things.
"Each had a series of badges, so it takes a long time to do.
"All together she has earned about 40 badges for this. There is a gold, a silver and bronze standard.
"Charlotte achieved Gold which is the highest award.
"It is amazing dedication she has shown throughout this.
"One part involved her hosting a meeting on zoom with an Easter theme which was fantastic.
"We have also had seven new brownies joining us and she helped them learn their Brownie promises. She's a real role model for them.
"She's been absolutely brilliant as well. She's a very determined young lady.
"All together she's got two sashes worth of badges which she is really proud of.
"She's also encouraged her seven-year-old sister to join and is helping her with her bronze.
"We are so very proud of her and her amazing devotion to the troop. Also all the amazing work she has done.
"You deserve it so much Charlotte from everyone at the Brownies. She's a real credit to the core values of our organisation.
"We think she really deserves the recognition as you have no idea how difficult it is to achieve these things, especially during lockdown."
