A TALENTED young girl was described was as 'assiduous, positive and caring' by her school as she was named ‘Student of the Week’.
Queen Katherine School pupil Mia Cribbens, 12, from Kendal, was nominated for the honour by Ms Holliday, her English teacher.
The school wrote on social media: "The Queen Katherine School, Headteacher’s Student of the week is Mia Cribbens, Year 7.
She was presented with a certificate by the school's headmaster.
"Nominated by Ms Holliday (Mia’s English teacher) for being one of the most assiduous, positive and caring learners she has ever had the privilege to teach.
"Mr Hayes presented the Headteacher's Award to Mia first thing this morning before she set off on one of our Outward-Bound days. Congratulations Mia."
The school released a statement on her accomplishments.
"Mia is an incredibly dedicated learner. Mia takes up all opportunities on offer, on the day she received the Headteacher's Award, Mia was heading out to Ullswater on one of our outward-bound days.
"She tries everything and enjoys after school netball club as well as getting involved in school House competitions.
"She works hard in all of her subjects every day, but most importantly, she is kind, polite and is an amazing friend."
Head teacher, Mr Hayes said: We are very proud of Mia. She is a student who fully embraces the Proud to Belong ethos of The Queen Katherine School and is enjoying all aspects of school life.
Mia's mother, Lisa Cribbens, said: "We are so very proud of her for all her hard work.
"She's doing really well at school and she does so much.
"She's such a hard-working person, very polite, and happily helps out any way she can for so many people.
"She does Taekwondo at the Cumbria Taekwondo club, which she started in 2018.
"Outside of that she enjoys doing a lot of sport at school.
"She's always going out on her bike and seeing friends.
"We were so happy that one of her teachers had nominated her. We only found out on Friday.
"Mia was delighted when she found out. I'm just really proud of her for all the stuff she is doing. She's so loving, kind and caring."
