A KENDAL man has accepted he was in the wrong after pleading guilty to unnecessary obstruction of a road and using abusive words.

Mr Martin Crossley, Valley View Cottage, Helsington, Kendal, appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on Tuesday as he was given a £635 fine for the two offences.

On 22 November 2020, the 51-year-old was arrested by PC Henry after obstructing Library Road, Kendal, used abusive words and made obscene gestures towards the police officer.

Representing himself, Crossley, whose last offence was in 2012, said: "I accept I shouldn't have said what I said. I know I was in the wrong and I apologise for that. I explained to the police officer that I was waiting for my daughter and grandson who were in McDonald's, but you can't park anywhere near it because the spaces are always full."
