Windermere - just in the past year, Windermere has welcomed the likes of Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Gary Lineker.

Famous for England’s largest natural lake, all three have visited and enjoyed this stunning area, where everyone can enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the lake.

Cartmel Races - Cartmel has a long tradition of racing, dating back to 12th century, and racegoers are still travelling to the town to experience this traditional and unique racecourse.

Famous residents - William Wordsworth, Stan Laurel and Alfred Wainwright all called the Lakes home during their lifetimes and have all spoken about their fondness for the area.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - home to over 1,000 of the rarest and most endangered animals in unique environments and allows you to get as close as possible to them.

Museums - there is a host of fantastic museums, fun days out to the Lakeland Motor Museum, The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and The Ruskin Museum will always leave you learning something new.

Hiking - walking up Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England, or The Old Man of Coniston, will provide you with a physical challenge, but reward you with fantastic views.

Dining - South Lakes is lucky enough to boast Michelin star restaurants such as L’Enclume and The Forest Side.

Food Produce - there are some dishes that are both delicious and steeped in South Lakes history, including Grasmere gingerbread, Kendal mint cake, Cartmel’s sticky toffee pudding.
