NETHERFIELD bowling club will be holding a competition this Sunday with prize money of £2000 available for the victor.

The club will be playing host for The Bryan Nicholson Memorial Singles competition.

32 local bowlers have already entered the competition at £20 each in what promises to be a hugely competitive day of action.

Bryan sadly passed away last Christmas due to Covid-19.

His son Ian is one of the most recognisable and respected players in the game.

Bryan too was an exceptional talent, playing for the Abbot Hall team that dominated The Kendal & District Bowling league for 25 years (1970-1994).

He also went on to have a successful career for Hale which covered another 10 years.

During this time, he accomplished several more league titles which built his reputation even higher.

Bryan, who had also spent 8 years at Hale, finished his bowling career at Netherfield until the end of the 204 seasons where he stopped due to ill health.

The club welcomes all to attend its event which will be conducted in accordance with Covid-19 rules to ensure everyone's safety.
