A LAKE District restaurant has been named as one of the top 10 per cent of eateries worldwide.

The past few months have been extremely difficult for the hospitality industry in the UK with lockdowns and the 'pingdemic' forcing hospitality to close due to the shortage of staff.

But The Westmorland Inn at Bowness is celebrating after Tripadvisor gave it a Travellers Choice award - declaring them one of the top ten per cent in the world.

The inn, on Lake Road, is a family run traditional inn with eight en-suite bedrooms and family rooms some with a lake view.

It offers a selection of drinks and traditional homecooked pub grub.

Head chef and co-owner Lloyd Price said: "It means a lot to the whole team and not just the business owners. Everybody is striving to try to make up for lost time.

"We've got a great team around us and we keep the team together, we've all been together now for quite some time.

"It's a family run pub. My nieces, nephews and my son work here and my wife and I run the pub. We've got full time staff that have been with us for quite some time.
"It's great to be recognised on the world stage as one of the top 10 restaurants in the world."
