A LAKES hotel revealing its recent refurbishment calls itself the ideal location for a car-free family staycation.

The Fisherbeck in Ambleside has undergone a total revamp.  They say the fresh look and new focus on family friendly rooms has launched the building into a new era.

Since purchasing the hotel in 2019 Owner Clark Zhou has had plans to revamp it and make it more appealing for families coming to area. Clark says: "We love the buzz and energy that families bring to The Fisherbeck.

"We think it’s very important to make families feel welcome and to help keep children entertained. Therefore, as part of the refurbishment we designed a specific space in the hotel for the kids to play.

"It gives them a space to relax that’s for them, not the adults. We provide games, colouring books, and pencils. We also allow kids to feed the fish in the pond, which they find very interesting. Our aim is to make families feel as welcome as possible so they can reconnect and enjoy their holiday in the Lake District."

Design touches run throughout the hotel with polished wood complementing the accent colours of yellow ochre and turquoise. The garden terrace has also been remodelled, offering the ideal spot to have drinks from the bar.

The 18-room hotel offers six room types. The hotel offers a tasty breakfast with traditional full Cumbrian or lighter options to choose from.

Laura Dadaluk, Manager at The Fisherbeck said: "We have rooms that can be configured for a family of up to six. All our double rooms have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers and very comfortable beds for a good night’s sleep after a day out in this beautiful area.

"The redesign of the hotel is stunning, and we are so pleased to be able to open our doors to welcome guests, after what’s been a tough period for the industry.

"As dog lovers ourselves, we welcome well-behaved dogs in four of our rooms and include a welcome pack with doggy treats, bowl and towel. We are also ideally placed to explore the Lakes by bus, boat and foot, which is a great way to slow down, relax and take in the scenery whilst on holiday."

The Westmorland Gazette:

The Fisherbeck Hotel is located in a beautiful stone building, parts of which date back to the first half of the 17th century, with further extensions added during the Victorian era. The oldest building was a tannery nearby The Little Beck River, whilst the main building was a wedding present.

It’s only few minutes to walk to the shore of Lake Windermere and its pier for lake cruises. Ambleside town centre is also nearby and boasts numerous cafes, restaurants and boutique shops.

The nearby Stock Ghyll Force and Wansfell Pike offer stunning views for walkers. For children of all ages, nearby attractions for days out include Brockhole, World of Beatrix Potter, and Windermere Jetty.

A scenic hop-on, hop-off bus ride on the 599 provides a car-free way to explore the many villages, attractions and historic homes between Bowness and Grasmere, or to do one of the many walks in the area.

There is also parking at The Fisherbeck for visitors coming by car.

The hotel is currently offering a 3 for 2 Autumn/Winter Offer, this is only available by booking direct via the hotel website and for selected dates between 1st November to 28th February.
