SPIKINGS fears have led to the cancellation of a social event at the University of Cumbria.
A planned Halloween event, hosted by the University of Cumbria's Education Society has been cancelled due to concerns of raising cases of spiking against young women.
Education Society at University of Cumbria wrote on social media: "Many of you have probably seen online that recently there has been a rise of drink spiking and pricking of drugged needles against women in local nightclubs.
"Due to this we have made the informed decision to cancel the Halloween night out that was scheduled for 30/10/21.
"We are really upset about this and can only apologise, but the safety of our members is our priority. Don’t worry tho we are already planning another event for you guys that will be just as fun when safe to do so.
"Thank you in advance for your understanding."
