THE details of a Christmas lights switch-on event in Kendal this weekend have been announced.
Santa will be in the town centre on Saturday to support the mayor, Cllr Doug Rathbone, in throwing the switch.
There will be music in Market Place from Drum Nation and singing from members of Stagecoach performing arts school.
Santa will be stationed in his sleigh at the top of Branthwaite Brow, where there will be mulled wine to enjoy.
Cllr Shirley Evans, chairman of the Christmas lights committee at Kendal Town Council, which funds the lights, said: "It’s great to be back in the town centre for a proper switch-on event this year.
"Last year’s video event was well received, but nothing compares to the real thing."
The town's Christmas lights stretch from Finkle Street and Stricklandgate out to both Kirkland and Wildman Street.
Cllr Rathbone will leave the town hall at around 4.15pm and will switch the lights on at 4.45pm.
There will be singing in Market Place from around 4.30pm.
