A KENDAL based brewery will open its doors for the first time this weekend.

The Lakes Brew Co, Kendal will be hosting a 'chilled weekend of beer, mulled win and good times'.

The open weekend starts on Friday 26 and will be open from 12pm -7pm, Saturday 27, 12pm - 7pm and Sunday they will be open from 12pm - 4pm.

On why they are hosting this event, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Michelle Gay said: "We have always planned on opening the tap room on pop up weekends, We decided to do this as everyone has been asking so we thought we would bite the bullet and go for it and open for a weekend."

Next year the aim is that the brewery will host these events once a month, with a different food truck on site at each event.

Michelle said: "People can come down to the brewery enjoy themselves, drink our beer and have a good time."

People attending this weekend will not have to book tickets and four legged friends are welcome.

The bar will be cashless and the beer shop will also be open for people to takeaway.

This weekend will be a lower key weekend and there will be a selection of traditional bar snacks and food can be ordered and delivered to the brewery.

To coincide with the event, the brewery will be launching a brand new beer. The brewery has worked with red bank, a local coffee roaster in order to make their new coffee porter which will be available in can from the bar this weekend.

On why they launched this new brew, Michelle said: "This time of year it calls for some nice easy drinking, dark beers.

"Everything is turning chillier, fires are on in the pubs and it gives you that warm feeling, porters are absolutely perfect for this time of year. It is a nice easy drink.

"In the coffee porter we are using a rare coffee bean as well, it is very low in caffeine so you don't get the caffeine hit with this beer."
