A COMPANY in Cumbria has been trialling electric vehicles for the first time.
McClures at Windermere delivers food supplies across the region and have started using electric vehicles for their smaller deliveries.
On why the company wanted to start trialling electric vehicles, Sarah Keast, social media and marketing manager said: "Part of it was because we're all trying to do our bit and look at our carbon footprint especially with us being based in the Lake District.
"So we wanted to try it and see how it works"
Over the past week the electric vehicles that have been trialled are the fleets' smaller vehicles that are used to deliveries around Windermere and Bowness.
Sarah said: "Trials have been going very well and hopefully this will lead to more next year and we will be making an impact on the companies’ carbon footprint."
The hope is that as the technology around electric vehicles improve the bigger vans in McClures fleet will be able to switch to electric too.
