A CUMBRIAN business has made it's first TV appearance.

KL Vennings Slaters, Penrith has appeared on the Channel 4 show, Grand Designs. In the show, presenter Kevin McCloud looks back at some incredible houses from around the UK.

Each week four houses that have been awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects will appear on the show and then on the final week, one house will be crowned house of the year.

The family company, directed by Lisa and Mark Elliot is a specialist roofing company that has been operating for 40 years offering a range of services including heritage roofing, slating, stone flagging, tiling and leadwork.

Lisa was recommended to the team at grand designs to talk about her expertise in roofing sequencing and traditional roofing.

Lisa didn't originally want to appear on the TV and instead her husband and Co-Director Mark was going to speak and explain the process of roofing and slate.
