Today we received devastating news about the death of a local doctor.
If we needed a wake-up call, following Storm Arwen, or the announcement of new restrictions for the Omicron variant, this sad and unexpected event has given us a renewed sense about what is really important.
At this time of year, we see the miraculous hand of God who loved the world so much that he planted himself on this earth.
Not in a palace, but in the lowest station.
In fanfare, observed not by throngs of people, but by shepherds visited by angels and wise men following stars.
Prophecy fulfilled.
Signs and wonders pointing the way.
On the darkest night.
When all hope was lost.
It is impossible to keep the human spirit down.
Just look at the world.
Everything was created for growth.
People, towns, money.
Just try to deny your child the chance to run and play and learn.
We were created, not to put a damper on life, but to live it to the full.
Our response to the season of Advent is to dress up our homes and towns and cities with light.
Bright, colourful decorations, and trees full of green life.
Joy, wonder and love prevail.
Loved ones may no longer be with us but Christmas is about hope fulfilled at the deepest, darkest time.
Taking the hands of friends and family, together we follow the Light of love, joy and peace.
The blessing of Christmas past, present and future is with us now.
