A WINDERMERE family are raising funds for a young boy living with a life-changing disability.

Cole Murray was born at just over 27 weeks weighing only 2lb 11ozs and suffered a bleed on his brain.

It soon became clear to his family and doctors that he was not meeting the same milestone as other babies.

At nine months Cole was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy - a specific type of cerebral palsy that refers to difficulty in controlling movements in the arms and the legs.

The fundraiser which will be hosted on January 21, 2022, was initially set up to help raise money for a £20,000 spinal surgery that will remove the spasticity in his legs, reduce his pain and need for medication and make Cole, now aged four, more comfortable.

Since the fundraiser was launched Lakeland Disability Support and the Craig Smith Charitable Foundation have come forward with the money for the surgery.

Cole's cousin Jay Graham said: "Now we are doing the fundraiser as there is a lot of therapy and equipment that will be needed for Cole's aftercare."

Jay said Cole is the 'happiest funniest little boy'. He said "Every time I see him he amazes me. He has had a really tough start in life.

"He has been through a lot and had a lot of procedures."

The fundraiser will be taking place at the Boaters Bar, Glebe Road, Windermere, starting at 7pm and will have a raffle.

There will also be a full cabaret and comedy show featuring drag queens Diana D, Gypsy Devine and Kara Von Site who will be hosting the night.

Already just over per cent of the tickets have been bought.

Tickets are still available through Eventbrite and are on sale for £16.76.
