(ABOVE) The carving of an angel on a property in Angel Yard, off Highgate.
An inn of the same name was situated near here until the 1980’s.
Along with it’s buildings and yard, it covered a large area behind Lowther Street.
The name was given in 1745, due to Bonnie Prince Charlie’s men having witnessed an angel protecting a young girl, after they had entered and taken it from the owners.
