KIRKBY Lonsdale travelled to East Lancashire for unfinished business against Rossendale.

The game came after the storm caused their match to be re-arranged, and regardless of the strong winds Kirkby pressed on.

Soon after kicking off, Rossendale draw a penalty on the 22 line which lead to them scoring within the first five minutes.

After the re-start, Kirkby were hit with another try and Rossendale led by 14 nil.

A further penalty saw the home forwards retain the ball from the line out and went over for converted try number 3 half way through the first half. 21-0.

Despite having difficulty during the first half, Kirkby had a burst of renewed energy over the next ten minutes following the try.

At several points they had Rossendale struggling to defend their own line.

But after the home pack won a lineout, they went onto score against but missed the kick to make it 26-0 with five minutes to go until half time.

Rossendale came back from the restart with their backs running through the Kirkby defence to score and bring the first half to a close at 33-0.

The home side forwards were heavier and with a well drilled set of backs, they presented problems for Kirkby.

Kirkby retaliated in the second half and were on the attack at first before a knock on gave them the advantage, however a penalty soon after placed it back in Rossendale’s hands.

First minutes into the second half, the home side used the advantage to score against to make it 40-0.

Two further tries by the Rossendale backs in the next 10 minutes saw the home team move to 54-0.

Another try by the Rossendale winger placed them on 61-0 with only 15 minutes remaining.

Kirkby weren't finished yet with Storey bursting through from the half way line and only the full back to beat but was bundled into touch.

Rossendale came back up field but some fierce defending by the Kirkby forwards gained the ball and Huddleston took the pass and left the home side watching as he starched his legs to score a consolation try by the posts.

In the last minute of the game the home side backs scored to make the final score 68-5.

Next week will see Kirkby take on Preston Grasshoppers.
