GRAFFITI that has appeared on a mountain ridge has been condemned by the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA).
Images of 'tags' along Striding Edge, Helvellyn, were taken by Jon Bennett yesterday.
Mr Bennett is one of the national park authority's fell top assessors, who ascend the mountain every day over the colder months to provide condition reports.
An LDNPA spokesman said: "This was a very disappointing discovery, as we ask people to visit the Lake District kindly and leave no trace of their visit.”
Mr Bennett said on Twitter that 'words fail me' and that he was discussing ways to remove the graffiti with colleagues.
Twitter users suggested the culprit might be traceable via their tags.
