CUMBRIA Taekwondo club have returned from their latest competition in Scotland with a new collection of medals.

The team travelled to the Vision and Momentum Open in Motherwell and returned with seven medals, from golds, silvers, and bronzes.

Olivia Davies won a gold medal in Child +48kg, while Gabby Pettigrew won her own gold in the Child under 26kg.

A further gold medal was put round the neck of Kitty Wilson for winning the Child under 40kg.

Maya Stopford won the silver medal in cadet +59kg while Tillie Wilson claimed another silver medal in cadet -44kg.

Jack Dixon won the Bronze in Junior under 55kg while James Jeory (cadet under 45kg), brought home another bronze medal.

Ollie McCloughlin (child under 29kg) and Riley Pettigrew (Junior under 73kg), both exited in the quarter finals, just before medal stage.

Steven Pettigrew praised the team and stated: “Happy to say it was an amazing performance from a mix of experienced and novice players.”

The team came 9th overall despite its small size and their much larger teams competing.

The club will return to action in the Ultimate Tkd Open on April 24 in Barnsley where there will be a team of ten competing for Cumbria Taekwondo.
