PLANS have been approved for a new cabin to be sited at a nursery to provide an additional teaching space area.
A proposal submitted by Church Walk Preschool Nursery in Ulverston to purchase a timber cabin has been given the green light.
The nursery, which has a capacity of 52 children, was established in 1994 as a charity group and was previously used as a parent-run nursery.
According to the design and access statement submitted with the plans, the unit will allow children to work in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, as this ‘cannot be offered to the children due to lack of space’ within the existing two classroom buildings.
The space would also provide flexibility in offering a ‘comfortable and homely meeting room’ for parents and families alike to ‘discuss sensitive issues as the current office is too small and cramped’.
The nursery felt this was a ‘cost effective solution’ to the nurseries needs going forward and provide a contribution to children’s learning and early development in a positive environment.
