POLICE have warned residents of a seaside village to ‘beware’ a woman with a Liverpudlian accent pretending to be from a broadband provider.
South Lakes Police reported that a woman had been visiting properties in Arnside pretending to be from BT, claiming that broadband in the area would be turned off.
Police reported she was attempting to sell residents a new product.
A force spokesman said: “We would like residents to be aware that yesterday tea time a woman claiming to work for BT Openreach has been at properties in Arnside claiming that broadband in the area will be turned off and trying to sell a new product on the door step.
“The woman was described as 5ft 3 with a Liverpool accent, carrying what appeared to be a poor fake ID.
“We would like to remind you that you should never share your bank details with anyone. Please continue to make us aware of any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.”
