THE WHEELS are in motion for Silloth Pride to welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community to the town for their second event.

Having initially announced that the festival had been cancelled due to financial difficulties after the pandemic, organisers have shared their excitement at being able to hold the event for the first time since 2019.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, June 18 from 11am to 5pm.

With a focus on highlighting diversity in rural Cumbria, the family-fun day will have a variety of stalls, funfair rides and a dog show, with prizes including most fabulous face and biggest diva.

To help with the running of the event a number of local businesses have offered sponsorship. Hayleys Homecare and Rolling Pub Co. have been named as the two main sponsors for the event.

Party Time Cumbria, AppleDerk Properties, No17 Baguette Shop and Berry’s Bakery have also been named as sponsors.

Organisers are hoping that businesses in the community get behind the event by decorating their windows in the lead up to the event. A competition will be held to decide the best-looking window in the town, with judging set to take place in the week beginning Monday, June 13.
