A MOTHER and daughter have ventured out on a 100-mile journey to raise money for charity.

Becky Knowles and her 12-year-old daughter Francesca have begun their journey and are currently 30 miles into their route which will raise money in memory of her step mother Kelly who passed away in 2018.

Together will be covering the distance during the month of June with the main of raising money for Cancer Research.

After surpassing their original goal of £150, the pair have now raised £175 at this time.

Beck said: “Francesca is 12years old and she lives in Grayrigg, Kendal. 

“She is very family oriented and enjoys spending time with both her mum and dad’s family. 

“Francesca wanted to walk 100 miles in memory of her step Mum Kelly. Francesca & Kelly were extremely close.

“She’s doing the walk in not only Kelly’s memory but to make people aware that they are not alone during these tough & sad times. 

“We are over the moon we’ve reached our target of £150.

"We would like to raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research UK so, please keep donating.

“I’m extremely proud of Francesca wanting to walk 100 miles to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research.

“She’s doing brilliant and I know she will smash it.”

Queen Katherine School said how proud they were of Francesca’s challenge and said: “Year 8 student Francesca has will be walking 100 miles throughout June raising money for Cancer Care UK in memory of her step-mum who sadly lost her life to cancer.

“We are so proud of Francessa, showing huge resilience and determination and huge commitment to walk 100 miles in memory of someone so special to her.”
