STAVELEY will hold a community celebration day this weekend.

The Green PLACE Project in collaboration with the Staveley Village Association (SVA), is launching a free community celebration day in Staveley between 10am - 3pm on Sunday, June 12, at the Pavilion next to the playground.

The event will be an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the things that make Staveley a great place to live and work.

The day will include a range of family-friendly nature connection activities with Playful Nature, land art workshops with environmental artist Richard Shilling, and a chance to learn about other community campaigns and projects aimed at improving the water quality of the River Kent.

There will also be an opportunity to view the new playground, explore and give feedback on other SVA development ideas for the Ayland, and view plans for a possible pump track.

An SVA spokesman said: “The SVA want to positively influence the way pump tracks are designed and built, ensuring that if a pump track in Staveley was to go ahead, it would sit sensitively within the wider landscape.

“The SVA want to enhance the surrounding green space by increasing biodiversity and improving the visual aesthetics through sensible sculpting of the track and appropriate planting of carefully selected trees, plants and seed mixes.

“The SVA have set this challenge to a number of pump track providers, and they are collaborating with an environmental landscape designer to bring this vision to life.”
