A BARROW man has admitted embarking on a two-week crime spree in Barrow.

Reece Tarr pleaded guilty to eight offences committed between July 10 and July 23, 2021.

Tarr, 26, appeared at Preston Crown Court via videolink from Her Majesty's Prison Preston as the charges were read out to him.

Count one was that of burglar after entering a house on Fife Street in Barrow between July 10, and July 12, 2021 and stealing a set of car keys.

The second count that Tarr, of Ship Street, Barrow, pleaded guilty to was stealing a car, namely a Peugeot 407, between July 10, and July 12, 2021.

Count three related to an attempted burglary of a house on Fife Street in Barrow on July 12, 2021.

Tarr pleaded guilty to the fourth count of assaulting a man, causing him actual bodily harm, on July 12, 2021.

The fifth offence took place on July 22, 2021, and was another charge of attempted burglary, this time relating to a house on Devon Street in Barrow.

Count six was that of burglary of a house on Middleton Avenue in Barrow between the dates of July 21 and July 23, 2021, when the defendant stole a set of car keys and two Sony Playstation 4 consoles.

Between the same dates Tarr pleaded guilty to stealing a Mercedes A-Class belonging to a woman.

The eighth count was of attempted burglary of a house on Middleton Street in Barrow on July 23, 2021.

My Hayworth, acting as defence counsel for Tarr, said while he realised that the offences committed would result in an 'inevitable custodial sentence', he requested a pre-sentence report.

"Maybe the court thinks that the sentencing judge should have some analysis of why he has gone on such a significant spree of offending within such a period space of time," he said.

Judge Mathieson granted the request and adjourned the sentencing until August 30.

"Mr Tarr, you understand that such a spree of dwelling-house burglaries really results in only one likely sentence but it is possible that the information that the probation service can provide and the information you provide might affect the length of that sentence," he said.
