A CARE home worker has been praised for its work and attitude toward those in his care, as well as being nominated by the Pride of Cumbria awards.

Sean Moore, from Summerhill Care Home, has built a popular reputation amongst his colleagues and the residents with his work ethic and bringing fun to the residents.

He arranges for performers from the area to regularly visit and entertain residents with songs, sketches, singing and dancing.

His work saw him nominated for Keyworker of the year.

Sean said: “I’ve worked at Summerhill for five years and I love it. I’ve got the best job ever.

“You come in, have a laugh, what’s not to like?

“We do a lot of singing, and when I’m not at work I used to sing a lot for gigs and weddings. We write songs with the residents and I bring my guitar in sometimes. They write poetry and do some sing-a-longs.

“I’ve learned a lot of songs while being with these guys. A lot of war time songs and I’ve managed to pick up the words quickly through our little singing sessions.

“My mother worked in care and she still works here in the kitchens. When I got home from school and she was still working I would come to the care home she worked at.

“I worked in a factory for about eleven years after school and changed jobs to fit the hours in to see my children more.

“My official title is resident’s liaison and I am involved with residents’ mental wellbeing, taking them shopping, and having them meet with families.

“I used to be a life guard but when I joined the team here and my old boss left she said I was welcomed to take the position.”
