Thousands of pounds have been raised for the family of a 22-year-old who was killed in a crash.

Curtis Banks, from Milnthorpe, died following a collision involving his white 125cc Honda motorbike and a white Ford panel van, on the A6 at Heversham on June 24.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

His family said Curtis had the ‘most beautiful soul’ and his death had left a ‘gaping hole’ in their hearts.

Their statement read: "Curtis is our beautiful boy, he is loved by everyone and has the most beautiful soul.

"Everyone he met loved him.

"He has left a gaping hole in our hearts that will never be filled, and we are truly broken.

"We ask that you please give us space and allow us time to come to terms with this as a family."

Ian and Miriam Dixon, who own Wheel-Tech Services, where Curtis had worked since November, also paid tribute.

“We miss him,” they said.

“It’s not quite the same at lunch times.

“We always had a laugh.

“Curtis was a valuable member of the team and will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Curtis’s family at this difficult time.”

A gofundme page, set up by Curtis’ uncle Gary Foster, to help the family “celebrate his life and give him a send-off that he deserves” has raised just over £3,000 so far.

Money will go towards Curtis’ funeral and a memorial.

Officers investigating the collision are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to it.

They would also like to hear from anyone who has dashcam and was in the area.
