A COUNTRY estate has been sold after it was listed on the market for nearly £2 million.

The Cinder Hill Estate at Rusland, said to date back to the 17th Century, was up for sale for £1.9 million.

The six-bedroom property has been described as a 'stunning family home', which includes 56 acres of land and other buildings.

A listing property agents Ashdown Jones said: "Welcome to paradise

"As the arterial roads capillary off into peaceful country lanes, arrive in the pretty hamlet of Rusland where the Cinder Hill Estate is tucked away beyond a sweeping driveway.

"Nestled snugly between Coniston Water and Windermere, on the southern fringe of the Lake District National Park; enjoy the best of both worlds, away from it all yet within easy reach of roads and transport links when duty calls.

"The security of being a landowner allows you peace of mind that your patch of paradise will never be devalued, its views never sullied by development or construction."

Cinder Hill was originally the Dower House to Rusland Hall, the Georgian mansion next door, then during the Second World War it was occupied by Naval officers overseeing shipbuilding in Barrow, according to the listing.
