THE Environment Agency (EA) was called after oil was spotted in a section of the River Kent.

EA officers attended Lound Road following a report of oil in the river on July 29.

A video of the oil was captured by resident Jonny Gios.

According to a spokeswoman, there was no evidence of ‘any lasting harm’ to the environment or wildlife.

“We have visited the River Kent in Kendal following reports of diesel pollution and confirmed the presence of small quantities of oil residue with no evidence of any lasting harm to the environment or wildlife,” she said.

“If you are aware of pollution on our rivers or elsewhere, please report it immediately to our 24/7 incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60.”
