CARTMEL Parish Council has sprayed messages on the pavement to remind people to clean up their dog poo.
The paint is biodegradable and has been sprayed in the ginnel next to the playground in Cartmel, which can be a problem spot.
The messages are bright pink and say 'clean it up' with a picture of a dog.
Dog fouling creates a bad smell and is unpleasant, but it can also be dangerous.
In rare cases, dog excrement can cause toxocariasis, which is an infection that can lead to dizziness, nausea, asthma or in extreme cases blindness or seizures.
Anyone who fails to clear up after their dog can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Noice of up to £100. If the case goes to court this can go up to £1000.
According to the law, being unaware that a dog has fouled or not having a bag is not a reasonable excuse.
