RESIDENTS in Dent are hoping a touch of Hollywood will help put the community' back into village life.

Prompted by the success of Sedbergh Community Cinema, a group of villagers has decided to piece together their "fragmented community" by holding monthly film nights - starting tonight (Friday) with Hollywood blockbuster The Pursuit of Happiness.

If there is enough demand, films will be shown in the Memorial Hall on the first Friday of each month, using equipment borrowed from Sedbergh's cinema team.

Tonight's screening, which stars Will Smith, will start at 7.15pm but filmgoers are encouraged to meet at the hall from 6.30pm onwards. Tickets cost £5 for adults or £3.50 for under 16s (family discounts are available too) and the price includes a free drink and snacks. Tickets can be bought on the night or in advance from Dent Post Office or Sedbergh Community Office.
