YOUNG people living in a South Lakeland village who have been priced out of the housing market may soon be able to find suitable accommodation with the building of eight affordable homes.
Members of the Lake District National Park Authority's development control committee has unanimously approved eight affordable homes, in Torver, near Coniston - subject to a satisfactory contract to secure occupation of the dwellings as affordable homes forever.
The plans are for the building of a row of five terraced houses, two three-bedroom, and three two-bedroom homes. There would also be a detached block of three flats, two upstairs and one on the ground floor, which would be suitable for a disabled person.
