A PARISH council has accused Cumbria County Council of committing a breach of faith by not consulting with the community about the creation of a controversial cycleway.
Lakes Parish Council has questioned the legality of the cycle route through Ambleside which starts at Zefferelis Cinema, on Compston Road, and continues through Rothay Park and Clappersgate via Vicarage Road.
The parish council claims 81 per cent of residents objected to the creation of the cycle path in May 2002, and was only alerted to the resurrected plans by chance, after a statutory notice placed in The Westmorland Gazette was spotted by Coun Fiona Sparrow two weeks ago.
