The four Cumbria branches of the Campaign for Real Ale have made a special award to the Jennings brewery in recognition of their continued support to the promotion of real ale in Cumbria.

Making the award, Cumbria Area Organiser, Philip Tuer saidL "Whilst as a campaigning organisation we have sometimes been critical of Jennings' policies, the brewery has consistently supported CAMRA branches in their efforts to promote real ale in Cumbria. They have advertised in local newsletters and the Cumbria Real Ale Guide, provided sponsorship of beer festivals, and practical help for example in loaning equipment.

"When Jennings became part of what is now Marston's PLC, we were fearful for its future as Cumbria's only regional brewer," he added. "However, we are relieved and pleased that the Jennings brand has been maintained and there has been continuing investment in the Castle Brewery site."

The presentation and certificate were given to Gaynor Green, Marston's Marketing Manager. She thanked CAMRA for supporting the Castle brewery, particularly during the takeover period by Wolverhampton & Dudley.
