WOMEN in and around Kendal have been invited to walk under the stars in a bid to raise money for Cancer Care.

Following on from the success of last year's event, where more than £100,000 was raised for this highly worthwhile cause, StarWalk is here again and it is hoped that this year's event will be just as magical.

Commenting on StarWalk 2007, Annette Quarry from CancerCare, a local charity that supports local people, said: "We were humbled by your efforts and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity and community spirit! Everyone who took part helped and supported us. You helped to raise enough to run the entire local CancerCare services for a whole month."

StarWalk is a sponsored walk especially for women and is now in its second year.

This year, the event takes place on Saturday May 10 and it is hoped that thousands of women will register and complete the 9.3-mile route, which starts and finishes at Lakes Leisure in Kendal.

With the party setting off at midnight and t-shirts and glow sticks provided, StarWalk promises a magical atmosphere and good fun for all.

Entry forms can be collected from the Westmorland Shopping Centre, Lakes Leisure on Burton Road, Jo & Cass hair salon and the CancerCare offices on Blackhall Road, all in Kendal.

Alternatively, you can register online at www.starwalk.org.uk or come along to the StarWalk registration desks in the Westmorland Shopping Centre next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (March 12-14).

Once registered you will receive a pack containing a t-shirt, sponsor form and training tips.
