POLICE have launched an appeal for information following after sheep rustlers raided a field in Hawkshead, near Ambleside.

The incident, which saw eight first year lambs known as Herdwick Hogs stolen from land adjacent to Hawkshead Hill, follows another case of rustling last month, where 20 Lleyn crossbreed sheep were taken from a field in Burneside.

The latest raid took place at approximately 10.30am on Friday April 4 and police believe that the rustlers used a light coloured van and a galvanised stock trailer to remove the lambs.

Anybody with any information about the incident is asked to contact Ambleside Police on 0845-3300-247.
