A HOTEL enjoying breathtaking views across Haweswater is set for a major upgrade following a change of ownership.
The Haweswater Hotel, near Bampton, has been sold by the Manchester office of hotel and licensed property specialist Colliers Robert Barry, from an asking price of £965,000.
Previous owners Richard and Brigid Boland are retiring from the trade to live closer to family and the hotel has been bought by The Oltec Group, from Wigan.
The hotel has 15 letting bedrooms plus an owner's flat and staff accommodation. There is also planning consent to convert a garage into two cottages.
Built in 1937, the hotel was constructed to replace The Old Dunn Bull in the now flooded Mardale village.
Subsequently, the hotel was owned by Manchester Corporation and was used for conferences and civic purposes until the 1970s when it was sold into private hands.
