MORE than a thousand women have signed up for a late-night outing to raise money for the Eden Valley Hospice.

The Midnight Memory Walk will see crowds of females filter through the streets of Carlisle in June, in a bid to raise £100,000 for the terminally ill.

So far more than 1,100 have agreed to take part and organisers are hopeful they will double the number of participants who took part last year, when 600 ladies limbered up for the six-mile stroll.

The walk will begin at midnight from the car park of Tesco in the Rosehill area and will meander down Eastern Way, along London Road, through Botchergate, past the viaduct, cathedral and town centre before heading back to Tesco via Warwick Road.

Registration forms are available from Tesco, hospice shops or online at www.edenvalley hospice.org.uk.
