Auditions take place in Preston on Saturday for two parts in a short film by London Film School graduates Julian Kerridge and Danielle Stickley, founders of the Blackpool fringe project, based at Preston's Media Factory.

Julian, who is probably better known as Lisa Riley's boyfriend Sean in the ITV series Fat Friends said he is relishing the opportunity to get on the other side of the camera.

"Acting is great but its only a small part of the process.

"What I love about directing is you get to oversee the entire journey, from first draft to final cut.

"It's very exiting to watch an idea come to life"

Spring Tide Boots, being filmed in Blackpool next month, tells the story of Daryl, a local lad struggling to cope with a dead end job and an alcoholic mother.

The roles being cast are Daryl, who is 19, white, intense, and a rough diamond and Juliet, 16, who is black, mixed race or Asian, feisty, and funny.
