This forthcoming Bank Holiday Monday 5th sees the South Lakeland area receive a special train service direct to Wales.

Stations along the line out of Barrow-in-Furness, also including Ulverston, Grange-over-Sands and Arnside will receive a direct train through to Wales and the scenic Cambrian Railway to the resort of Aberystwyth.

On this journey over ten ex-British Rail Intercity carriages will be used to convey passengers, hauled by a specially restored vintage class 40 diesel locomotive dating from the early 1960s.

The servie will be boarding along the route including at Ulverston, Grange-over-Sands, Arnside and Carnforth stations at various times between around 6.45am and 7.30am in the morning.

Travellers will be taken on a scenic route to Wales, with an afternoon in the popular Welsh seaside resort of Aberystwyth.

Those who boarded in the morning will be returned home at various times after 9.30pm.

The entire journey is by direct train from South Lakeland so passengers will not need to change trains to reach Aberystwyth or return home and there are several pick up stations in all on this excursion also including Barrow, Dalton and Lancaster.

There are still spaces available on the train for anybody interested in coming, priced at £54 in standard class for adults (with a few first class places available at £79 each).
