A POPULAR south Cumbria car dealership will change hands in the near future.

Lloyd Motor Group has announced its acquisition of the Volvo Cars business in Levens. The business will be renamed Lloyd South Lakes – Volvo Cars, and will welcome customers across the south Cumbria and north Lancashire regions.

Completion of the acquisition from P.V. Dobson was recently confirmed, following closely after Lloyd Motor Group acquired its Lloyd Kia South Lakes site in Morecambe.

The medium-term plan is to house both Volvo Cars and Kia at the current site in Levens. This acquisition sees Lloyd Motor Group further expanding across the south of Cumbria, strengthening its presence in the area alongside its Lloyd BMW South Lakes and Lloyd MINI South Lakes retailers.

Chief Executive of Lloyd Motor Group, Bryan Lloyd, said: “We are pleased to be adding this site to the group and representing Volvo Cars in the south of Cumbria. This acquisition is an exciting opportunity for Lloyd Motor Group, and will allow us to strengthen our offering across the region and further our relationship with the Volvo Cars brand.

"We look forward to delivering the unique Lloyd customer experience to both new and existing customers in the area.

“We are delighted to take over the business from P.V. Dobson, who, like us, recognise their family values as one of the foundations to their success. We hope to continue their good work, and can assure existing customers that they will be well looked-after by our team. We’d like to thank Chris and Bridget Hammond and all of the Dobson family, and we wish them the very best in their future projects."

Starting their journey with BMW in Cockermouth in 1976, the family-owned company has now grown to employ over 1,100 people across more than thirty locations throughout the north of England and south of Scotland. The company’s years of experience allow them to offer unique standards of customer service and attention to detail.
