Furness College Cumbria opens its doors for new students

Excellent teaching and outstanding links with our many employer partners come as standard. From professional and technical courses, such as CTECs, BTECs, T Levels - including a new T Level in engineering - and apprenticeships, through to a range of more than 20 A Level subjects and higher education courses, if you come with a can-do attitude you will succeed with our support.

Our latest Ofsted inspection praised our strong outcomes for students and excellent links with employers leading to good job prospects, as well as our caring culture, and we were rated as good.

More than half our A Level students achieved the top grades A*-B in their exams and secured places at some of the most prestigious universities in the UK, as well as sought-after Higher Apprenticeships with employers including BAE Systems.

Principal and Chief Executive of Furness College Andrew Wren urged people to register for the event and take the opportunity to see first-hand the college’s state-of-the-art facilities and meet the tutors.

“Our Open Evenings are for anyone from Year 10 and Year 11 pupils through to adults who want to enhance their career prospects,” he said.

“It is a chance to meet tutors and learners from all our curriculum areas will be on hand to give expert advice on the full-time and part-time courses and apprenticeships on offer.”

At the Channelside campus, there will also be a chance to find out about the college’s university degree courses that can be studied in Barrow and see the facilities including a restaurant-standard catering suite, hairdressing and barbering salon, engineering and construction workshops and sports facilities including gym, sports hall and 3G pitch.
