Kendal 19 - 50 Lymm

KENDAL Rugby were on the end of a heavy defeat at home to Lymm.

Kendal and Lymm started with some feeling out before the visitors began to dominate the early stages of the game and scored after nine minutes, plus a conversion.

This became 12-0 after a penalty kick on 18 minutes.

Kendal fought back and pushed to the right touchline before an interception by Lymm resulted in a 0-19 score.

Kendal answered back to make it 7-19 soon after following a scrum and a knock on from Lymm.

Steven Nelson moved to No.8 and recycled the ball to reach the try line.

Dan Lowther added the conversion.

Just before half time Kendal were back u[ the pitch to score.

Dan Lowther broke through and ran over for the try which he converted himself. 14v19 at half time.

The start of the second half saw Lymm awarded a penalty to make it 14-22.

The Kendal forwards battered the Lymm line but were stopped after some initial progress.

Kendal were punished for missing the opportunities as Lymm ran through the centre for another converted try to make it 14v29.

Lymm added a fifth try following a break down the right after a penalty.

The score was now 14v36.

Things picked up as a failed lineout allowed Kendal to counter attack.

Nick Carlton made a long break and Mckenzie Cousins finished with his second try in two games to put Kendal in sight of a try scoring bonus point to put them. 19v36.

However Lymm answered back with two tries before the end of the match.

First a break through the centre led to the sixth try - 19v43. Then. with Kendal still looking for an extra score, a quickly taken drop out backfired as the ball was run back for a try 19v50.

Alistair Thompson was named as man of the match for his excellent performance in both attack and defence.
