BUSINESS is booming at a high street shop which has swung open its doors after ‘outgrowing’ its former premises.

WOW Vape and Snacks has opened in Ulverston’s Market Street after seeing ‘phenomenal growth’ since launching the chain nearly two years ago.

The business was originally set up by Gary Peaker and Steve Smith and was later joined by Steve Kennedy who currently manages all three stores in Dalton, Millom and Ulverston.

Mr Kennedy revealed plans last month to relocate the Ulverston vape shop from King Street to the former Helen Gee hairdressing unit in Market Street.

The move meant two more staff members will be hired to work in the new unit, which officially opened its doors to customers this week.

Mr Kennedy said: “It's going really well, we had a lot of interest when we were fitting the shop out. Almost every day we had several people asking what the shop was going to be and when would be opening.

“We are offering 10 per cent off everything this week as an opening offer and this has helped. Our takings have really improved since moving from King Street.

“We have extended our opening hours to 8am-10pm Mon-Fri, 10am-10pm Saturday and 10am-8pm Sunday.

“We're getting a really good mix of customers coming in and lots of them are new.

“We have set up a loyalty scheme so customers earn cashback on every purchase. This helps drive repeat business.

“Overall we are so pleased with the results and thankful the people of Ulverston are supporting us.”

Mr Kennedy also shared plans to open two more stores next year in Barrow and the Lake District.

“Hopefully we can help the Barrow town centre by opening a new shop there too,” he said.

“We have a lot of customers who come in from Barrow and thought it was time to open a new store there.”
