A DOG who lost his home due to his owner's ill health is desperately in need of an operation to help him walk.

RSPCA Westmorland recently took in Sammy after he lost his home - and are appealing to the public to help fund a vital operation.

In a post shared online, an RSPCA spokesman said: "Sammy went for some x-rays this week as he has been struggling to walk and it turns out he has damaged his knee and needs a serious operation which is going to cost us over £2000.

"Due to covid and now the cost of living crisis this is something as a small independent branch we are going to struggle with, so we are asking for your help to raise the funds to allow Sammy to have this operation.

"Your donation no matter how small will really help, and please share this post as much as possible.

"We will also be on the look out for a foster home for Sammy once he has had the op as he will need some careful aftercare. If you have a quiet home and are at home most of the time and feel you could help, please get in touch. Thank you."
