A NEW festival is coming to Kendal next year to support a local charity.

Kendal Rocks will be held at The Venue in Kendal on the 3rd and 4th of March in aid of Outside In, a charity based in Cumbria supporting local families, children and parents.

All the profits will go towards the charity, and the bands involved are playing for free.

The Friday lineup is headlined by the new band Billion Dollar Babies, fronted by former members of Kendal's band Cat Dog and featuring members of the rock band the Bottlenecks.

Bands such as The Size, Elysium and Heavy Energy will also perform on Friday.

The Saturday lineup is headlined by the long-serving Cumbria's cover band, Big Trouble. The other acts include The Ride, The Cascaras, PV77, Tin Pan Alley, The Cheetahs, The Pretend Deads and Tote.

The event is being sponsored by Barrow-based Black Shed Drums, supplying the drum kit for the festival.

The festival is being organised by Katy Brown with help from her fiancé Jeff who, according to Katy, "has been a vital part of the organisation" and music promotors GGM Events.

Katy Brown, who also works for the charity, said Outside In is a "unique place" and is beneficial for the local community.

However, to continue to help families most in need, "we need to maintain an income and raise funds to develop it", said Katy.

She added: "We have big plans for the centre, including a sensory area for everyone to access, but especially for those with additional needs.

"We couldn't be happier with the lineup and are overwhelmed with the number of messages from acts wanting to perform.", concluded Katy.

Food at the event will be available on Friday by, Galgate firm Big Bears BBQ Pizza & Grill and on Saturday by Barrow firm, McMunchies.

Tickets in advance have a price of £10 on Friday and £15 on Saturday. On the door are £15 on Friday and £20 on Saturday.

Tickets will be available here on the 1st of December.
