TRAIN services running through Wennington station to Lancaster have been cancelled due to safety checks.

Network Rail engineers on site have deemed the station footbridge to platform two unsafe for use. Disruption is expected until the end of the day on February 10.

Services from Leeds and Skipton towards Lancaster and Morecambe are unable to call at Wennington station platform two. Services from Lancaster towards Skipton and Leeds are unaffected and will continue to call at platform one.

Customers for Wennington will be over-carried to Lancaster where they should speak with station staff regarding replacement road transport to Wennington.

Bus times can be checked on the Northern Railway website

In a statement, Northern said: "We apologise for the delay to these services and the additional time this may add to your journey today."

It also asked customers on station platforms to listen for announcements or contact customer information screens for up-to-date train running information.
