ST Mary's Hospice 'cannot thank Ricky Shimmin and his family enough' after he completed another fundraising activity for the charity.

Mr Shimmin completed a virtual walk from Lands End to John O'Groats and raised £3,505 in the process.

He has done multiple fundraising activities for the hospice after the loss of his wife Marie who died at the centre.

A hospice spokesman said: "It is always such a pleasure to welcome Ricky Shimmin to St Mary's Hospice. Ricky sadly lost is beloved wife, Marie here and since then he has helped and supported us so much.

"We cannot thank Ricky and his family enough. Last week, Ricky presented us with a cheque for the fantastic amount of £3,505 after completing a virtual walk from Lands End to John O'Groats. How wonderful! Thank you so much Ricky."

Hospices are only partially funded by the Government so have to rely on their own income generation. Fundraisers such as Mr Shimmin make it possible to continue running the Hospice.

A virtual walk is where the participant pledges to cover a certain distance over a period of time. From Lands End to John O'Groats, this would be 812 miles.
