A KENDAL dance school has won a place to perform at a famous dance festival.

Dance Atikk is set to perform at The Lowry theatre in Salford in Manchester.

22 dance groups from the North West have been chosen by a panel of professional dancers and teachers to perform at the stylish Lowry theatre in the U.dance festival.

Sixteen talented dance Atikk students aged from 11 to 17 years old will be taking the professional stage to perform an 'emotional' and 'moving' dance number called ID Tag.

Feedback from the professional panel said: "Our panel enjoyed watching this really well choreographed piece of work and felt that there was a clever use of musicality that helped to push the narrative throughout.

"There was excellent timing and physicality throughout which alongside the energy and sense of ownership the dancers brought helped to engage its audience."

Principal and dance teacher of the dance Atikk for over 10 years Lucy Everett said: "I'm so proud of each and every dancer. These dancers have worked super hard and are a wonderful team We are looking forward to a fantastic event and performing in such a fantastic theatre.

"I know the dancers will perform their hearts out at the Lowry to hopefully gain a place in the next stage of the competition against schools from all over the UK."
