A NEW venue to showcase events has opened in Kendal.

Glisky is the latest addition of the owners of Fell Brewery, which runs the Fell Bar on Lowther Street.

Located at Dockray Hall industrial estate, the new unit will be a space to host music and events, along with the brewery's finest beers.

Tim Bloomer, director of Fell Brewery, said: "We have had the idea for a few years to try to provide something extra to the town that it is a little bit different and that can hopefully slowly grow over the years to become something that can be appreciated by the community.

"We have always had a small but well followed crowd for our music offering in Fell Bar.

"It has always been popular but there has been a demand for bigger space to put on bigger gigs and we always wanted somewhere to do things that needed to be more carefully organised like beer festivals."

Glisky opened to the public for the first time on Saturday to coincide with the 10th year anniversary of Fell Brewery trading as a brewery.

Tim said: "We had about 150 people in the morning and 150 in the afternoon and both of the sessions were sold out. We invited brewers from all across the country to attend and pour their beers along with our own beers and it was a big success.

"The feedback was all very positive and how good it is to see new and slightly more alternative things opening up in Kendal."

The overall plans for Glisky is to use it for brewery operations and an occasional venue for events.

Tim said they had been working on the unit since November 2022.

He said: "It is an old warehouse so the look is very edgy and industrial. It is rustic but it has got a lot of character in it."

The venue will only be opened to the public for events - the rest of the time it will just be used for brewery purposes.

The team is waiting for the good weather to announce the next events.

"Hopefully around spring time we can start unveiling our first events", said Tim.
