SOUTH Lakeland District Council (SLDC) collected thousands of pounds in revenue over the first half of 2022 according to a Freedom of Information request.
Figures obtained by Churchill Motor Insurance show 708 penalty charge notices were handed out by SLDC in the six months to June 2022 – equivalent to four each day.
This was a fall from five per day across the whole of 2021.
Penalty Charge Notices are issued when drivers break parking regulations.
The figures show SLDC brought in £19,286 in revenue in the first half of 2022 from penalty charge notices – or £107 a day.
This was a fall from £139 a day across the whole of 2021.
The figures further show £129,796 has been collected by SLDC from parking tickets from the start of 2020 to June 2022.
